Lufthansa Airlines to fly to Bursa

German airline Lufthansa will start flying from the German city of Munich to the northwestern Turkish city of Bursa on Aug. 1, raising its number of destinations in Turkey to four, a company statement said Saturday.

       

The airline will fly from Munich to Bursa on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays and from Bursa to Munich on Wednesdays, Fridays and Mondays. Lufthansa already flies to Turkey’s commercial hub, Istanbul, its capital, Ankara, and the popular western city of İzmir.

       

Operating flights to Turkey since 1956, Lufthansa has the largest share of flights to Turkey among foreign airline companies. By the time it begins service to Bursa, Lufthansa will be operating 73 flights to Turkey per week.

       

Deutsche Lufthansa AG is a global aviation group operating in five business segments, including the passenger airline business, logistics, MRO, catering and IT services. The Lufthansa Group includes a total of more than 400 subsidiaries and associated companies. It employed some 118,000 personnel as of the end of 2009 and achieved a total operating revenue of 22.3 billion euros for the year.
