Navy sidesteps blame for Qantas incidents

Seçtiklerimiz

It was “highly, highly unlikely” the signals could scramble commercial jet navigation systems as different frequency bands were used, base manager Russell Levine he told the Sydney Morning Herald.

He said two incidents involving Qantas Airbus A330 jets were more likely the result of an aircraft fault as the “very-low-frequency signals from the Harold E. Holt base were probably unable to penetrate aircraft frames”. Plane navigation equipment used high-frequency radio waves, so it was unlikely to pick up low-frequency military
communications.

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau is investigating the incidents, one in late December and a more serious one in October when 13 passengers were hurt in a dramatic plunge.
