The Shanghai World Exhibition opened on Saturday, 1 May. Finnair is the official partner of exhibitors Finland, Madrid and Liverpool in passenger and cargo traffic. Through this cooperation, Finnair is prominent at these exhibitors’ stands at the World Exhibition. A total of over 240 countries or cities are participating in the exhibition.
"Cooperation with exhibitors participating in the Shanghai World Exhibition is natural for Finnair, because the projects are substantial and flight connections must work well. The World Exhibition is also commercially significant for Finnair, because it will attract a huge number of visitors from Europe to Shanghai this year,"says Jarkko Konttinen, Head of Brand and Commercial Communications.
Finnair’s airbridge covers daily passenger and cargo connections from more than 50 European cities to Shanghai. Already during the construction stage, Finnair transported tens of thousands of kilos of air cargo from Europe to the exhibition, and during the exhibition particularly the stream of fresh cargo consignments will grow .
The World Exhibition is open until 31 October 2010, and it is expected to visited by more than 70 million people. The theme of the Shanghai World Exhibition is Better City – Better Life, focusing on the challenges of global development, such as sustainable development, environmental perspectives and the utilisation of innovations.
