Celebrating its 16th route launch out of 26 announced for this year, Budapest Airport has marked the commencement of its latest link, this time to Bordeaux in the much-acclaimed wine-growing region of France. Expanding its route network yet again, Wizz Air’s twice-weekly service to the south-west of France becomes the home-based airline’s 69th destination from Budapest.
The Hungarian gateway recorded almost a 15% jump in indirect passenger traffic between Budapest and Bordeaux last year, clearly showing there is demand for a direct service. Adding its sixth French airport strengthens France’s position as Budapest’s fifth largest country market, behind only Germany, Italy, Netherlands and UK.
