AUSTIN, Texas – Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) will operate two nonstop, round-trip flights between Stockholm, Sweden’s (ARN) Arlanda Airport and Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) during SXSW on March 8 and 12, 2018. SAS executives will be available for media at Austin’s airport after their scheduled arrival on March 8 at 1 p.m. This marks the first flights for SAS in Austin as well as the first nonstop between Austin and Stockholm.
Media access to interview, photo opportunity: SAS invites media to the Barbara Jordan Terminal for photo and interview opportunities with SAS executives on March 8 at approximately 1:30 p.m. This opportunity will be held near the Customs exit, located on the lower level baggage claim, east end past baggage Carousel 7. Visitors passes and security screening are not required to access this area. Media in marked vehicles may park in the designated media parking area located on the upper level curb, east end. Media should contact Aviation PIO prior to arriving.
Media access for aircraft photo opportunity: To view the SAS aircraft, expected at Gate 3, a media area specific to this event has been identified on the south airfield boundary. This is located on a paved area east of the tower. Media should stay on paved area and not block any gates. Directions: Take Burleson Rd. to Emma Browning Ave. Take Emma Browning Ave. towards the airport and tower, past General Aviation facilities on right. Just past General Aviation facilities, follow the road to the right towards the Airport Rescue and Fire Fighter (ARFF) station. Head north past the station to the fence line.
The special SXSW flights will be operated using Airbus 330 aircraft with 262 total seats. The aircraft is equipped with 32 fully flat Business Class seats, 56 Plus Class seats and 174 Economy Class seats.
On March 8, the flight arrives at AUS at 1 p.m. and departs AUS at 3 p.m. On March 12, the flight arrives at AUS at 6:40 p.m. and departs AUS at 8:40 p.m. This SAS service also offers an easy nonstop option for Central Texans to enjoy a Scandinavian getaway.
