Major Deal: Korean Air Set to Sign Contract for 33 State-of-the-Art Airbus A350s

Korean Air has announced its intention to sign a contract with Airbus for the procurement of 33 cutting-edge A350 family aircraft, valued at USD 13.7 billion. The order comprises 27 A350-1000s and six A350-900s, which will bolster the airline’s fleet operations while aligning with its sustainability goals. As Korean Air gradually phases out older aircraft, the introduction of these next-generation, eco-friendly A350s also lays groundwork for the integration of Asiana Airlines.

The A350-1000, the largest variant in the A350 family, boasts advanced composite materials that reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions by up to 25%. With a remarkable flight range of up to 16,000km, this aircraft can accommodate 350 to 410 passengers in a standard three-class configuration. Meanwhile, the A350-900, slightly shorter but still impressive, offers a range of 15,370km and typically seats 300-350 passengers.

In addition to the A350 order, Korean Air plans to introduce a significant number of Airbus A321neos and Boeing aircraft, further emphasizing its commitment to fleet modernization and carbon emission reduction.
