Akasa Air has entered into a significant agreement with CFM International for the purchase of 300 LEAP-1B engines to power the 150 newly ordered Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. The deal, announced at Wings India 2024, also includes spare engines and a services contract. The Mumbai-based airline, which commenced operations in August 2022, had previously ordered a total of 76 LEAP-1B-powered 737-8 aircraft. The latest order, comprising 737 MAX 10s and 737 MAX 8-200s, is part of Akasa Air’s plan to become one of the top 30 airlines globally by the end of the decade. The deliveries are expected to be completed by 2032.
