Tow tug pulling Singapore Airlines plane catches fire at Changi Airport: reports

A tow tug caught fire as it was towing a Singapore Airlines (SIA) plane to a departure gate at Changi Airport early Wednesday (29 November) morning.
 
According to media reports, an SIA spokesperson said there were no passengers on board the affected aircraft.
 
Photos and video posted on social media show the exterior of the aeroplane covered in black soot.
 
No one was injured in the incident, which occurred around 4am, and the fire was extinguished by Airport Emergency Services. One member of the towing crew who was in the aircraft’s cockpit at the time of the incident was evacuated via emergency slide, said the spokesperson.
 
SIA and SIA Engineering Company are investigating the incident, added the spokesperson.
