Boeing-Ontic Partnership Strengthens Aftermarket Support for Legacy Radar Systems
London / Global — October 17, 2025 | Boeing has expanded its exclusive distribution agreement with Ontic, granting the UK-based aviation parts and MRO specialist global distribution rights for the Honeywell RDR-4 A/B Weather Radar System and the Primus P440/660/880 radar family for commercial customers.
Announced during MRO Europe 2025, the partnership strengthens aftermarket support for commercial airliners, business jets, and rotorcraft, reinforcing lifecycle coverage for long-serving fleets and underscoring Ontic’s strategic role in sustaining established and non-core OEM product lines. The agreement ensures the continued availability of critical flight systems that enable safer and more efficient aircraft operations worldwide.
Why It Matters
The expanded radar distribution program preserves a single, global supply channel for spare parts across a wide installed base — including the Boeing 737, 757, and 777 families, as well as Airbus A320 Classic, A330, and A340, and a variety of regional aircraft.
Covering more than 1,000 unique part numbers and major line-replaceable units (LRUs) — such as receivers/transmitters, antennas, control panels, and flat plate assemblies — the portfolio ensures reliable access to essential weather radar components that detect turbulence, wind shear, and hazardous weather conditions.
Primarily supported from Ontic’s UK facilities, the program provides aftermarket and logistical support to around 170 operators and repair stations worldwide.
Ontic’s Role in Sustaining Radar Capability
For Ontic, this marks another milestone in its mission to sustain and extend the life of OEM technologies that remain vital to aviation safety. The company’s expertise in radar MRO, parts manufacturing, and lifecycle management ensures operators continue to receive OEM-licensed quality with quick turnaround times and global logistics support.
Ontic’s longstanding relationships with major OEMs such as Honeywell and Boeing provide continuity and stability for operators navigating evolving maintenance requirements and supply chain challenges in avionics and flight safety systems.
A Collaborative Approach
“This expanded agreement with Ontic strengthens our ability to support a wide range of platforms with high-quality radar spares and broader aftermarket capability,” said William Ampofo, Senior Vice President of Parts & Distribution and Supply Chain for Boeing Global Services.
“By combining Ontic’s parts and MRO expertise with Boeing Distribution’s global logistics, operators and MROs gain reliable access to critical parts and repairs.”
“We’re proud to deepen our collaboration with Boeing Distribution,” added Matthew Pritchard, VP of Sales and Customer Engagement at Ontic.
“This expanded network reinforces Ontic’s commitment to sustaining vital radar systems across both commercial and defense aviation, helping operators maintain safe, efficient operations for decades to come.”
Industry Impact
This strategic expansion demonstrates Boeing’s ongoing commitment to simplifying aftermarket support, reducing maintenance lead times, and improving parts availability for operators worldwide. For Ontic, it cements its position as a trusted partner sustaining legacy and non-core OEM technologies that remain operationally critical for the global aviation fleet.
