Air Nelson will operate a special flight between Nelson and Wellington this evening for passengers affected by the emergency landing at Blenheim Airport.
There were 41 passengers and three crew on board the Air Nelson Q300 aircraft which was scheduled to operate flight NZ8309 between Hamilton and Wellington. The flight was diverted to Blenheim where the nose gear failed on landing.
All passengers were disembarked safely and were cared for by Air New Zealand staff in the terminal. Arrangements have been made to either accommodate the passengers or transport them via road to Nelson to board the special service.
Air Nelson engineers were flown to Blenheim immediately following the incident. They are assessing the aircraft, which is expected to be moved off the runway this evening, to allow normal operation of the airport to resume.
