Traffic Figures

During January 2009 1’509’800 passengers were handled at Zurich Airport, a loss of 2.3% versus January 2008. Transfer passengers are up by 6.9% to 568’242 in January. The transfer rate which was at 34.6% last January is currently at 37.8%. O/D or local passengers (originating or departing from Zurich) have fallen by 7.1% to 933’193 versus previous January.

The current low cost market share is at 8.5% (9.5% previous year), showing a decrease in passenger figures of 12.5% versus previous year.

Air Traffic Movements (atm’s) decreased by 10.8% to 20’623 in January versus previous year. The loss for airlines was 4.9% and 34.3% for General Aviation. The average Passenger per movement figure (airline passengers only) currently is at 86.0 (83.7 previous year).

Commercial Activities

Total turnover (net sales to consumers) during January was 35.8 Mio CHF (+ 1.0 % versus previous year). Turnover per departing passenger in January was CHF 47.44, which is 3.3 % over last year.
