In a written statement released by THY on Saturday, the company said it signed a sponsorship deal for the 2010 Euroleague Final Four, which is due to take place on May 7-9. Europe’s four top-ranked basketball teams will compete in the tournament to determine the 2009-2010 season Euroleague champion, an event expected to be followed by around 950 million people in 185 countries.
THY has increased its worldwide promotion efforts in the past few months. Ads filmed with Hollywood star Kevin Costner and sponsorship deals signed with some of the world’s leading sports clubs have carried THY’s star forward in the global aviation arena. THY is also a sponsor of Spanish football club Barcelona and UK club Manchester United.
With direct flights to 120 international and 37 domestic destinations, THY is one of the fastest growing airlines in the world. The company carried a total of 6.15 million passengers in the first quarter of 2010. It carries an average of 25 million passengers a year.
