Golden Age of Flying comes to Lexington’s aviation museum

Seçtiklerimiz

If you’re at least 10 years old, you can experience open cockpit flying when Waldo Wright’s Flying Service visits the Aviation Museum of Kentucky to offer rides, beginning Tuesday.

The open cockpit bi-wing Stearman PT-17 will be available for paid flights through Sunday. “PT” is for primary trainer, and a number of pilots, from naval aviators to U.S. Army Air Corps and Tuskegee Airmen, developed their skills in the Stearman. As a training plane, there is a cockpit for the instructor and one for the student.

Cost is $175 for 15 minutes or $250 for a 30-minute flight, along with applicable taxes. Pilots must be age 10 or older and be at least 5 feet tall. Flight operations may be affected by weather. Admission to the museum is separate from any flying charges.

To reserve a flight, go to Waldowrights.com. The Aviation Museum of Kentucky is at 4029 Airport Road, adjacent to Blue Grass Airport in Lexington.
