Dassault Aviation Leads $200M Investment in Harmattan AI to Advance Autonomous Combat Aviation Systems

French aerospace and defense leader Dassault Aviation has announced a strategic partnership with technology developer Harmattan AI, taking the lead on a $200 million Series B funding round aimed at fast-tracking the integration of controlled autonomy and artificial intelligence into next-generation combat aviation platforms.

The collaboration is designed to support the deployment of AI-enabled mission capabilities across broader operational environments and to expand Harmattan AI’s product portfolio. The funding will also help scale industrial production of the company’s intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) systems, drone interception solutions and electronic warfare platforms.

Harmattan AI has already secured multiple official defence programs with both the French and UK Ministries of Defence and is now accelerating its global expansion in response to growing military demand for autonomous systems.

Under the agreement, Dassault Aviation will leverage its extensive expertise in military systems architecture, high-intensity mission system integration and international market access to help embed advanced AI into future air combat platforms. This includes integration efforts for next-generation combat aircraft such as Rafale F5 and Unmanned Combat Air Systems (UCAS), with a particular focus on enhancing control of unmanned aerial systems.

The strategic investment reflects Dassault’s commitment to strengthening technological sovereignty and ensuring AI capabilities form a core component of Europe’s future air combat capabilities. Combining Harmattan’s AI innovation with Dassault’s defense platform experience aims to shape collaborative air combat operations for allied forces worldwide.
