China Airlines Launches New Charter Routes

In order to welcome the winter peak season, China Airlines plans to inaugurate four new charter routes that will serve Korea and Australia. These include new charter flights from Kaohsiung to Cheongju beginning on December 26, and flights from Taipei to Cairns starting on January 16, 2009, and from Taipei to Daegu and Taipei to Gwangju starting on January 24, 2009. The new charters will provide more choices for passengers from Taiwan, Korea and Australia in the upcoming winter vacation season.

The Kaohsiung –Cheongju route, flight CI-7748, will use a B737-800 aircraft, and will operate from December 26, 2008 to March 20, 2009, with a total of 22 round-trip flights. Flight CI-7748 will depart from Kaohsiung at 08:00, and arrive in Cheongju at 11:35. Return flight CI-7749 will leave Cheongju on the same day at 12:35, and arrive in Kaohsiung at 14:45.

Cheongju is conveniently located in central Korea, and is famous for its beautiful scenery and local culture. Famous tourist spots include Songnisan National Park, and Cheongju Early Printing Museum.

The Taipei – Cairns route, flight CI-7919, will use an A340-300 aircraft, and will operate from January 16 to February 6, 2009, with a total of four round-trip flights. Flight CI-7919 will depart from Taipei at 21:05, and arrive in Cairns at 06:20, while return flight CI-7920 will leave Cairns on the same day at 07:50 and arrive in Taipei at 12:55.

Cairns, a small coastal city in northern Queensland, features the World Heritage-listed Great Barrier Reef, and vast expanses of primeval rain forest, as its main tourist attractions. Cairns offers a multitude of activities including diving, horse riding, boating, and taking cable car rides through the beautiful rain forest. Cairns enjoys a tropical climate all year round, so winter is an excellent time to explore the area.

The Taipei – Daegu and the Taipei – Gwangju routes will both use a B737-800 aircraft. The flight to Daegu will operate from January 24 to February 27, 2009, with a total of 10 round trips. Flight CI-7546 will depart from Taipei at 16:05, and arrive in Daegu at 19:15, while return flight CI-7547 will leave Daegu on the same day at 20:15 and arrive in Taipei at 22:05. The Taipei – Gwangju route will operate two round trips between January 24 and January 27, 2009. Flight CI-7548 will leave from Taipei at 04:00 and arrive in Gwangju at 07:00, while return flight CI-7549 will leave Gwangju the same day at 08:00 and arrive in Taipei at 09:25.
