Melbourne Airport welcomes today's announcement from Tiger Airways to commence up to three flights daily to Brisbane for the first time from 28 March next year.
“This is testament not only to the strength of the Victorian economy but to the resilience of Melbourne as a key tourism and business destination” Melbourne Airport CEO Chris Woodruff said. “By further expanding Tiger's network out of Melbourne, the new services will continue to benefit Victorians, the local economy and those looking to travel to Victoria by offering more travel options”. This comes on the back of Tiger's recent announcements with their launch of services on the Melbourne – Sydney route, the introduction of their seventh aircraft to the fleet and increased services to the Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, Hobart and Adelaide. Melbourne Airport was recently awarded the Low Cost Airport of the Year award by Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation, in recognition of the airport's commitment to keep our costs low and service levels high. “These new services are reflective of our ongoing commitment to work closely with our airlines, coupled with the strength of the Melbourne market as a whole” he said.
