The Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA) is pleased to welcome Emirates as a new associate member. Emirates’ entry into the association was announced ahead of the ALTA AGM & Airline Leaders Forum, to be held in Buenos Aires.

The world’s largest international airline, founded in 1985, currently provides services to two points in South America including Sao Paolo and Mexico City, and will resume services to Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro in November.

Emirates also provides access to 13 points in North America, with customers enjoying seamless connectivity to its global network, with over 130 destinations across six continents.

Emirates’ network will be further enhanced under its codeshare agreement with United, also an ALTA member, with easy connections to almost 200 cities across the Americas.

“Emirates is an airline with a rich heritage of connecting people across the globe and bringing communities together. This summer alone it carried 10 million passengers and this number continues to grow.

I am confident that Emirates’ participation in ALTA’s initiatives will be beneficial to the travel industry, boosting connectivity and providing more travel options for people in Latin America and the Caribbean,” commented José Ricardo Botelho, Executive Director and CEO of ALTA.

Emirates has been serving customers in Brazil with its award-winning services since 2007. Following the launch of services to Sao Paolo, the UAE carrier launched services to Buenos Aires via Rio de Janeiro in 2012, linking Argentina and Brazil with direct flights, and providing a second gateway to Brazil. In 2019, Emirates expanded its reach into Latin America with the launch of its services to Mexico City.

With a focus on customer experience, Emirates recently embarked on a 2 billion dollar retrofit program to commence in November, which will see the modernization of 120 aircraft in its fleet of 263 aircraft.

The latest onboard products and elegant designs will be incorporated into its wide-body fleet of A380 and Boeing 777 aircraft, including the introduction of Premium Economy.
