American Airlines adding Oklahoma, Texas flights from Phoenix

Seçtiklerimiz

American Airlines is adding two destinations from Phoenix and beefing up service on another route.

The carrier, which is the busiest at Sky Harbor International Airport with more than 260 daily non-stop flights, will begin flights to Oklahoma City and Amarillo, Texas, on April 3.

American will be the only airline offering non-stop flights between Phoenix and Amarillo. It will face longtime competitor Southwest Airlines on the Oklahoma City route. American predecessor US Airways last served Phoenix-Oklahoma City in 2008.

American also is adding an extra daily flight between Phoenix and Edmonton International Airport in Alberta, Canada, for the peak winter tourism season. It will offer two daily non-stops between Dec. 15 and April 2.

The new flights will be operated by American regional airline partner Mesa Airlines, flying as American Eagle.

Like all airlines, American will closely monitor the new service, reducing or ending it when routes don’t perform. American recently said it will stop flying between Phoenix and Laughlin/Bullhead City International Airport in February after a year due to lackluster demand.
