Alaska Airlines slashes ticket prices after Amtrak derailment

Alaska Airlines announced in a tweet earlier today that it will be lowering ticket prices from flights between Seattle and Portland on both Monday and Tuesday.

 

The decision to cut fares was made in response to the tragic Monday morning Amtrak train derailment that claimed at least three lives.The Seattle-to-Portland flights originally cost $214, but the airliner is cutting it to $99.

 

In a tweet, Alaska Airlines assured its customers that the price would be honored – despite a “hiccup” on the website that doesn’t reflect the newly reduced fare.

 

 

Delta airlines also has lessened the burden of those traveling to or from Seattle on Monday and Tuesday, by allowing customers to make a one-time change to a ticket without a fee, the Seattle Times reported. Changed tickets must be reissued on or before the coming Friday.
